If you have a child starting kindergarten in the fall of 2023 please give us a call to make a screening appointment. 218.562.7520

In Minnesota all children are required to complete Early Childhood Screening before they enter Kindergarten. Screening is available for all 3-5 year olds; it is best to have your child screened between 3 and 4 years of age. The purpose of the screening is to provide parents with a comprehensive view of the child's health and development. Screening also helps a school district identify children who may benefit from district and community resources available that help in their child's development.

Early Childhood Screening includes the following components: hearing, vision, height, weight, development, immunization review, and nutritional assessment. The vision screening helps detect potential eye problems but is not a substitute for a comprehensive eye exam. Professionals, school staff, and volunteers will be present at the screening to guide you and your child through each component. The appointment takes approximately 1.5 hours.  This screening supports children's readiness for Kindergarten and promotes positive child health and development outcomes.
